Is permatex just as good as a real gasket?

About a week ago I posted about a broken stud....well I got the new stud and cylinder head gasket yesterday, and now I'm just waiting on the foot gasket, which won't come for another week because of holiday delay.
I was wondering if it would be ok to use permatex instead, and if so, what kind? I have some ultra grey that I'm using on the cylinder head cover, and it can withstand 475 degrees.
